Part One
Last night I put the lenses in. I won't lie, it was uncomfortable. Let's say that I was really aware that something was on my eye. Lots of tears--which is normal--and I found it helped to bend my head down and look at the ground while I adjusted to the feeling. I went to bed excited to see in the morning. It was about 10:30pm.
I woke up around 6:30, opened my eyes, and I could see. That's so not normal for me! Anyway, I put rewetting drops in my eyes immediately, and stayed in bed for a bit. I got up at seven and took them out. It's a really neat process to take them out. I opened my eyes really wide, bent my head forward, tugged on the outer corner of my eye and blinked. The lens popped right out into my hand. Popped the other lens out...and it was time to see if they worked.
I walked into my room and I could see. A bit blurry, but better than usual. My left eye had better vision, and the right eye was not as good. My first follow-up appointment was at 8:30am.
My eye doctor did his tests and it showed that these lenses did not sit properly on my eye. When we did the initial fitting, they were fine. He's guessing that once I fell asleep, they moved a bit. So, we're ordering a new size and will give this a try in a few weeks.
Even though the results were not perfect, I am really excited by the prospect of being able to see during the day without glasses or contacts. Even this slight change was promising. I'll post more when the new size comes in.
